Ijo Temple Sambirejo Village Prambanan Sleman Special Region of Yogyakarta

Exploring the city of Yogyakarta, almost every corner of the city has their respective attractions. One of the Jogja attractions that we will visit this time is Ijo Temple Sambirejo Village, Prambanan Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region. The location of Ijo Temple is the highest among other Jogja temple locations in Jogja.

To get to the Ijo Kalasan Temple route, we must pass through the Ratu Boko Palace complex. Maybe this trip will be interesting for those of you who like art and culture. Along the way you will see the beauty of various temples scattered around.

This tourist spot in Yogyakarta was built around the 9th century, located in a place known to the public as Gumuk Ijo or Bukit Hijau. This area is indeed high, it is natural that Ijo Piyungan Temple is the highest located temple in Yogyakarta. Here, besides you enjoy the beauty of the temple, you can also enjoy the extraordinary scenery around it. From the top of the hill you can see down, a natural beauty that is hard to miss. Looks like a terraced terrace with a steep and neat slope level, indicating that it is a local agricultural land.

The Ijo Temple Complex in Yogyakarta consists of 17 building structures divided into 11 terraces. The first terrace which is also the entrance yard is a terrace with a longitudinal terrace from east to west. Then on the 11th terrace, it consists of a number of buildings ranging from a fence, 8 pegs and four buildings (the main temple and 3 Perwara temples). Development done here is not random, this is because each terrace has a different sacred value. Up to the building on the highest terrace which has the highest sacred value.

You will be spoiled with various forms of beauty of fine arts around this Hindu Temple complex. You will see Kala Makara which has a double head pattern and its attributes are right above the entrance. Motifs and attributes of this case you usually find in Buddhist temples, this shows that Ijo Prambanan Temple is an embodiment of the acculturation of Hindu and Buddhist culture. Some temples that have similar motifs are found in Plaosan Jogja Temple, Ngawen Temple and Yogyakarta Sari Temple.

Here there is also a statue depicting a male and female figure that flies and points to a certain side. The meaning of the figure is suwuk which is used to ward off evil spirits and as a symbol of the union of Lord Shiva and Lord Uma. The union of these two gods is interpreted as the beginning of the creation of the universe. The style of the statue in this temple is different from the style of the statue in Prambanan Temple, Jogja.

Located in the Perwara temple building on the 11th terrace, this section contains a Homa (like a sacrificial fire place). Then, right at the top of the back wall of the tub, there are several ventilation holes in the form of triangles and parallelograms. The existence of this Homa reflects the state of the Hindu community who worship Brahma. And the three Perwara Temples signify community respect for the Hindu Trimurti namely Brahma, Whisnu and Shiva.

In the temple building on the 9th terrace there are two inscriptions that keep a mystery. One of the inscriptions was given an F code that read Bluyutan or Guywan which means hermitage. While the other inscriptions are made of stone with a height of 14 cm and a thickness of about 9 cm. This inscription contains spells written and thought of as a curse. As many as 16 times the mantra was written and among them read "Om Sarwwawinasa, Sarwwawinasa". Even though until now the origin of the spell writing has not been revealed, it is believed that the mantra is closely related to certain events that occurred on Java.

Visiting this Jogja tourist spot, you get a beautiful view that you don't get in other temples. When you face west, you can see the activities of Yogyakarta Adusutjipto Airport. The location of Ijo Kalasan Temple is located east of the airport, and this is the reason why the airport's area cannot be extended to the east. Every work in the Ijo Temple area in Yogyakarta has its own uniqueness. And it's time for you to see firsthand the beauty of the Ijo Temple and the beauty of other Yogyakarta tourist attractions.
