The History of Happy Loka Zoo in Jogja
The start of the construction of the Happy Loka Zoo Jogja stems from the idea of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono VIII in 1933 who wanted an entertainment venue. Then the hiburat place was named Kebun Rojo. The idea could be realized by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX who was assisted by a Dutch architect named Ir. Karsten. Which then Ir. Karsten chose a location located west of the Winongo River. The place becomes his choice, which is the most ideal location to realize the ideas of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono VIII, namely the construction of entertainment venues (Kebun Rojo). The construction of the Rojo Garden was halted due to World War II and the Japanese occupation. After World War II was over, in 1949 the process of moving the State capital from Yogyakarta back to Jakarta took place. An idea was pioneered by Januismadi and Hadi.
